Explore the neighborhoods of Carthay Circle and South Carthay in Los Angeles' bustling Miracle Mile district, just southeast of Beverly Hills. Carthay Circle and South Carthay, have been designated as Historic Preservation Zones by the city due to the architectural integrity of their houses. Carthay Circle is composed of mostly Spanish Colonial Revival-style homes, with a few Tudor Revival and American Colonial Revival houses thrown in. The homes of South Carthay are a little more cohesive, consisting almost entirely of Spanish Colonial Revival structures. Both neighborhoods are well maintained and relatively isolated from the busy surrounding boulevards, making this a peaceful respite smack dab in the middle of one of LA's most thriving business districts.
One of Carthay Circle's most interesting features is its network of pedestrian pathways, which are marked and maintained as regular city streets by the city of Los Angeles
